God I hate my new roommate.

He snores.

Now, normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but when it wakes me up at six in the morning when I can sleep in until 1:30 in the afternoon, AFTER keeping me up with his fucking computer, it's a problem.

At this point, I'm debating between throwing something at him, or punching him in the nuts.

Cliffhangers
Sometimes I hate myself for reading incomplete stuff. No matter if its a trilogy, a fanfiction, r a manga, it just drives me nuts waiting for the next part to come out.
I just read a new chapter of bleach, and of course, it's a cliffhanger, just liek the one befor eit, so I'm waiting on the edge of my seat to see what happens next, and there's nothing.

I suppose I should feel guilty for doing the same to my readers, but I've got school, and that's why i don't go nuts on fanfiction/fictionpress writers. We don't write for a living, it's something we do in our spare time. It's the manga and book writers that drive me nuts. They're being PAID to do it. Work harder god damn it. I understand it takes time, the story doesn't write itself, but COME ON!!!

I have to say, Megatokyo is the worst. This guy does it for a living, even quitting his main job to do it full time, but he just can't keep up. Ctrl-Alt-Del updates on time, every time, even when he goes on vacation. Now THERE'S a guy who knows what he's doing.

I took the tickle IQ test out of boredom, and scored a 140. Yay.

I then found out I'm a Visionary Philosopher, which is strange, as I always considered myself to be a deranged maniac.

As much fun as it is to be classified as a genius (I think the cutoff is 130) I don't put too much faith into it, mainly because I went through a much more in depth testing a few years ago. I don't think 50 questions answered in half an hour will be quite as accurate as a test administered over the course of several hours.

Despite my supposedly superior intellect, I'm going to remain level headed. I may get the material right away, but my lack of work ethic completely overrides any statistical advantage I might have.

Remember, there's always someone bigger, stronger, or smarter than you. Don't be overconfident.

After referencing another site, I found out having an IQ of 140 puts me in the top .25% of people. I am ranked as an intellectual, and only 5 points shy of being ranked as a professor. I wonder if all my teachers are that smart, especially the one who couldn't find teh paper I put in her mailbox. Next to her office.

Theoretically, i could join mensa, but screw that. If I join Mensa, I'll be expected to act 'smart' all the time. I like being a moron with my friends.

Why did god greate the platypus?
To fuck with the great minds of today. Though that does lead to a second question.
Why don't I get a lot of reviews?

There are probably a couple of reasons:
First: They're fairly short. The longest being just over 10,000 words.
Second: I write for less popular stories. All of them have less than 5000 stories, and have a smaller fanbase than, say Harry Potter (282,000+) or Naruto (60,000+)
Third: Small fanbase. Some people get dozens of reviews in a chapter, because they've built up a fanbase. They're written epic novels of fanfiction, and people liked it, and checked out other things they've written.
Fourth: Short Chapters. When I start a story, teh first chapter is almost always short, less than 1000 words long. This probably discourages reading. (I personally avoud stories shorter than 5,000, and prefer ones that are at least 10,000, preferably 20,000+)

For Fictionpress.com, there are different reasons:
One: No fanbase- It's original, so I don't get 5 million Harry Potter fans who want to se em particular take on the Death of Sirius (And if that ruined it for you, boo freaking hoo.)
Two: Short summaries- If you had to summarize a story in less than 25 words, it'll be difficult to spark attention.
Three: No Quality control. People expect good novels to be published, and garbage to float around on the internet. Whiel this isn't true, it makes it more difficult to attract readers. The fact that there is soem pretty crappy writing out there makes it all the more difficult. I estimate that 10% of all writing on fictionpress.com is good, and only 25% of that hooks the reader from the beginning. That means, on average, that someone will have to read 40 stories before they find one that hooks them from the start, or 10 stories befor ethey find soemthing that gets better after teh first few chapters.

No wonder I did so poorly.

Well, at least i updated one story for fanfiction and original fiction. Let's see which gets more reviews.

Idiots
I was watchig comedy central, and something the guy said struck a cord.

It pisses me off that stupid people aren't an endangered species, ut everyone treats them like they are.

I'm reading a Naruto/Bleach fic, so far it's pretty interesting. The author asks who we want to get together with Naruto, pots a list of options. I vote, then check to see how likely it is to happen.

Of course, 30 to 50% of people either voted for someone not on the list or for multiple people, or people that were already decided. Go damn morons. Well, at least I ony have one class to go to today. Yay.

Fear me locust
My friend and I finally beat gears of war on the Hardcore difficulty, so yay us.
The nice thing about that game is you can one hit KO anything but bosses.
And the chainsaw guns
and the grenades
and the Hammer of Dawn
and... well you get the point.

If you have Xbox 360, go buy gears of war or I'll chainsaw you just like all those locust bitches.
Hell, if your systems are out of date, BUY and Xbox 360 solely for this game.

They'd BETTER make a sequel. I want to know what the hell happens next...

Things that sap the joy
I realized that I don't like Harry Potter that much a few minutes ago. Not because of the story, or characters, or anything like that.

It's the lack of reason.

One of the prevalent things that can ruin stories for me is a lack of reason.
"Why do I have magic?"
"Why doesn't he have magic?"
"Why do I have to say words to use magic?"
"Why do I need a wand?"

All those are legitimate questions, an no one answers them. It just works.

There are degrees to how bad this is, and I'll state them now

0- Everything can be explained by logic. It all makes sense. He fell down because there's gravity.
1- Low- Best example of this is The FIrestaff Series. It's fantasy, but it's governed by laws. It can't exist in the real world, but there is an explanation.
2- Naruto- There's some explanation, but there's a lot left unsaid. Why does chakra work that way? We don't know, it just does.
3- Harry Potter- No explanation whatsoever. We don't know why, they don't even bother to explain why, it just does.
4- Nancy Farmer's House of the Scorpion- Blatalant violation of the laws of reality. It was a GREAT book, but there's one scene that drives me insane.
"This is our only way out, and we need the DNA and fingerprints of the guy in charge, or when we try to use it, we die."
"That's okay, i'm his CLONE!!!"
WRONG!!!! Assuming their DNA is REALLY the same (given the possibilities of mutations) THEIR FINGERPRINTS ARE DIFFERENT!!!

Fingerprints are formed in the mother's womb, and are not affected by genetics, this is why if one identical twin takes a gun and kills someone, the innocent one doesn't go to jail.

Please, all of you aspiring writers out there, for my sanity, try to keep your writing to levels two and lower. I can accept level three if it's amazing, but level four is just wrong, and if you write it, you should die. lease just pick up a couple of books, do a little research, and make your writing better.

I know I've complained about this before, but it's IMPORTANT!!!

Bio Hazard
I never realized how dirty the suite water was until I got some from the next one over. I can actually see th bottom of my water bottle now. That's right, it's THAT dirty. It's like the water you see on the Africa commercials.

It kinda reminds me of this comic:
http://www.cad-comic.com/comic.php?d=20030204

I've been drinking that water about as much as Ethan ate that cereal... I can oly imagin what it's done to my body.

Personality Test
http://memoriter.net/flash/test.html

It's fun, but don't take it seriously. Here are my results, if anyone cares.

I say take teh test on your own before you read my results.

Question 1:

My Priorities:
Pride
Family
Money
Career
Love

Interpretation: Pride is really important to me, but probably not the top of the list. Family is fairly important, as is love and money, but Career? Heel no. Not even on the list.

Question 2:
My Personality: Loyal- this is true, though I screwed up sometime when i was younger.
My Partner-Self-Sufficient-Seeing as I don't HAVE a partner, I guess this is true
My Enemies: Tough- Do I even have enemies? If so, please speak up
Sex: bad- This is right out. I really don't see how my dislike of COFFEE implies that I think sex is the tool of the devil.
My Life: Cool- If by cool i meant calm/serene, i guess so, but i was talking temperature, and right now I'm baking!

Question 3:

Person i'll never forget: Brent: Probably true, if you meet him, he stands out.
A True Friend: Chris: Definitely ture. Chris is probably my best friend.
Really Love: Carl: WTF?!?! One, I'm straight, and two, Carl's a psycho. No freaking way.
Twin Soul: Tom: If by twin soul you mean total opposite, then maybe.
Someone I'll never forget: Leif: First roommate, so maybe its true

Question 4:
People to send this to: 0 (Take that Dalai Lama! No Hindu/Buddhist converts from me!!!) And my wish (Rule the world) will come trues on Saturday. Joy.

Anyways, finals start tomorrow, so I'm not even bothering to try and write stuff, but there shoudl be a new chapter of Dark and Light up over the weekend.

Later.

Thanksgiving break
Well, thanksgiving break was nice. I got to see a lot of old friends who went to different colleges. One got a new Xbox 360, and we played Gears of War. It's a good game, but it should have been longer. I'm looking forward to a sequel.

On Thanksgiving, i learned my cousin's a lesbian, and exchanging vows in January. I say, good for her, she knows how she wants to livem doesn't hide it, and found someone she wants to share her life with.

I think, THINK, I'm getting over my writer's block. I'll try writing some new chapters sometime this week.

Only three weeks until Christmas break. Yay.
